MAREN, Alan Buchanan design built in 1962.
A long keeled keeled Masthead Sloop. Her present condition rebuild project requires finishing.
2023, a 18hp Volvo twin cylinder diesel engine with a stainless steel shaft and a Darglow folding propeller have been professionally installed. New engine beds and re configuration of the cockpit had to carried out, to enable a successful installation.
Her restoration started 2008 at St Osyth Boatyard, Essex where she was built by Shipwright Denis Barnes in 1962.
A new mast and boom have been commissioned and built, (working from the original Buchanan spar and sail plan drawings), Her old aluminium mast and original roller furling boom are included in the sale, should they be wanted). The new spars are being with Collars Sparmakers of Dorchester.
There are several sails included, new standing rigging will be required.
Safety gear, navigation gear included with her, all dry stored with the vessel.
She requires an internal fit out : all the domestic services, systems, fixtures and fittings need to be re-commissioned and installed.
The present owner bought her as an ongoing restoration project 2 years ago.
After a putting a substantial amount of money, time and labour into her, he feels the end is insight for any further financial commitment from himself in order to get her completed and back on the water.
A new Custodian is now being sought.
