Xylonite: has been laid up for a year or so, through Covid times in West Dock London. An 87ft Steel and Iron hulled Thames Sailing Barge with Bowsprit. Built in 1926 by F.W. Horlocks of Mistley, Suffolk. She has been kept in sailing condition, and has until recently retained an Exemption Certificate, for carrying up to 12 Guests, when sailing. She has been re-blackened and has new anodes. An out of water condition report was made on her in June 2024. the findings were she requires replating, hence why the asking price has been reduced. She is an iron hull. The engine runs well. The interior and galley is in good working order. This Barge was originally built in 1936, as a 70ft long Butty. Her restoration was carried out by Alan Staley, wooden Boatbuilder of Faversham, Kent. JOY was purchased in a very poor state in 2020, as a "Retirement project", sadly, due health reasons her present owner is unable to complete the project and will never take her sailing. 28ft wooden Smack Yacht, bought as an open boat from Portsmouth,1985. REDUCED Testers Boatyard, Hollowshore, Kent, sold her on, as a "restoration project" to her present owner in 1986. Originally, she was a twin masted Lugger, built circa 1895. It was decided that she would be re rigged to carry a Gaff Rig, A new rig was made, new spars and sails, and an engine was installed, The Boatyard built her a deck and a simple coach roof over a cabin.
